Abstract

The principal objectives of the present research project is to continue our collaboration with colleagues from Sofia University, with whom we have maintained permanent contact along the years and have produced some interesting joint results. The principal themes that we shall approach are: Inequalities from Approximation Theory and Harmonic Analysis such as Markov's, Bernstein's and Hardy's ones, Zeros of polynomials and Entire Functions, as well as topics of general interest in Classical Analysis as The Theory of Entire Functions in the Laguerre-Pólya class. Further, we shall study themes in Number Theory, discussing them with Bulgarian colleagues working in this. An important objective of our stay will be to analyze some notes (the so-called nachlass) of some celebrated mathematicians from the past as Nikola Obrechkoff, Lubomir Tchakaloff, Vasil Popov, Borislav Bojanov, and other representatives of the Bulgarian Schools in Classical Analysis and Approximation Theory. The closedness with other European Centers in Mathematics will give us the opportunity to eventually continue our collaboration with other coauthors of ours, as well as to participate to some conferences in Europe, to some of which we have been already invited.
