Abstract

In this application we describe two projects for an 1-year BEPE at the University of Washington under Prof. Dr. Zeljko Ivezic's supervision. The first project is an on-going work on quasar photometric redshift estimation using a supervised learning approach and S-PLUS data. With the improved precision of our estimation technique, we will be able to build a quasar candidate catalogue for future spectroscopic follow-up. We plan to finish this work during the first few months abroad, including completing a publication. Afterwards, we will start a new project on AGB star classification using S-PLUS data, for which we plan to start writing a paper during BEPE and finish it in the following months after returning to Brazil. For both projects, we will use the code and products from our previous work on object classification, and we will disseminate our results as new value-added catalogues for the astronomical community.
