Abstract

The objective of the research internship abroad is to carry out a comparative analysis between the musical production perceived as peripheral in France and Brazil, taking as empirical ground the working relationships of MCs and DJs of funk in São Paulo and rap in the Parisian region. Both styles are influenced by black music of Caribbean and North American matrix, and occupy a symbolic space in the social imagination as marginal cultural expressions, almost always associated with young people, especially men, residing in poor neighborhoods. Through a qualitative methodology, which unfolds in bibliographic research and field observation, I intend to study the trajectories of rap artists, paying attention to the possible links with Brazilian funk. The interest is in the strategies they adopt to ensure a level of visibility and commercial insertion of their musical productions, especially through digital platforms. (AU)
