Abstract

Methamidophos is a chiral pesticide whose enantioselective effects have already been observed under different environmental conditions and in vitro assays. In addition, it has been widely used for pest control in peanut, tomato, potato, bean, cotton, soybean and wheat plantations. Currently, as a pesticide, it has been banned in several countries due to its high degree of toxicity. Even with its use no longer allowed in Brazil, people continue to be contaminated by this pesticide due to the liberated use of acephate pesticide, also chiral, whose metabolism generates methamidophos. Several studies have shown the toxic potential of methamidophos in different species. Based on the above, this project aims to develop and validate an enantioselective chromatographic method for further quantification of methamidophos after in vitro metabolism of acephate by cytochrome P450 enzymes present in human liver microsomes.(AU)
