Abstract

The objective is to evaluate the effect of using Amaize® and Fibrozyme® enzymes in feedlot diets on performance, intake, nutrient digestibility (partial and total), microbial protein synthesis (MPS), ruminal bacterial diversity (RBD), ruminal parameters, blood parameters and differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of Nellore bulls. Two experiments will be carry out at APTA Colina - SP evaluating 5 treatments, namely: T1: Control, without enzyme additive; T2: 0.5g Amaize® (±-amylase)/kg of diet DM; T3: 0.7g Fibrozyme® (Xylanase)/ kg of diet DM; T4: 0.25g Amaize®/ kg of diet DM + 0.35g Fibrozyme®/ kg of diet DM; T5: 0.5g Amaize®/ kg of diet DM + 0.7g Fibrozyme®/ kg of diet DM. In the Exp.1, ten rumen-cannulated bulls [420 kg of body weight (BW) and 36 months of age] will be distributed in two 5 × 5 Latin squares (5 treatments × 5 periods of 23 days each, with 14 days of adaptation and 9 collection days, totaling 115 days). The digestibility of nutrients (total and partial), ruminal parameters, blood parameters, MPS and RBD will be evaluated. In the Exp.2, 120 Nellore bulls (380 kg of BW and 24 months of age) will be distributed in randomized blocks design. The animals will be assigned based on BW and ultrasound measurements of the initial carcass and randomly distributed in 40 pens (8 pens/treatment and 3 animals/pen). The trial period will be of 115 days. The diet adaptation will be provided to the animals in the first 15 days, and later, the final diet will be provided. Animal performance, intake, carcass characteristics and DEGs analysis in liver samples will be evaluated. Data analysis will be performed using SAS PROC MIXED. Data on ruminal bacterial diversity will be analyzed by the R software and bioinformatics techniques will be applied to differentially expressed genes datas.
