Abstract

Asthma is a chronic disease characterized by causing inflammation in the airways, triggering the limitation of airflow. COPD is a progressive systemic respiratory disease that causes air flow limitation, decline in performance and respiratory failure. There is a third group of patients who have characteristics of both diseases over time, originating the term Asthma Overlay Syndrome-COPD (OCP); thus it can be defined as an airway disease characterized by fixed airflow obstruction with features common to both asthma and COPD. Objective: To compare the evolution of extracellular matrix elements, cellular expression and oxidative stress in an OCP model at different exposure periods. Methods: 100 mice (n=10/group) will be used: ACUTE/Chronic ROOM; SALE Acute/Chronic; ALS Acute/Chronic; OVA Acute/Chronic; ACO Acute/Chronic. The animals will be exposed to protocols of sensitization with Ovoalbumin by intraperitoneal and inhalation and instillation of Porcine Pancreatic Elastasis by intratracheal route. The lungs will be collected to make histological slides, and later the analysis will be performed, through the immunohistochemical technique. Statistical analysis: Sigma Stat 11.0 (Sigma Stat for Windows) program, One Way Test - ANOVA, pd0,05.
