Abstract

The use of ceramic materials in oral rehabilitation has become frequent because they meet the functional and aesthetic requirements required. However, difficulties inherent to the longevity of these materials when it is questionable, since, because they are rehabilitating ceramic material, they are subject to possible occlusal adjustments, followed by finishing and surface polishing before being subjected to function, which can influence their optical property and texture, causing aesthetic damage due to the change in the color of the material. Thus, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of different surface polishes on the color and texture of lithium disilicate-based ceramics after artificial aging. In this study, four groups (n=10) represented by different groups will be evaluated according to the finishing and polishing received: (without finishing, glaze, polishing, and glaze + polishing). Ten ceramic blocks will be obtained for each group and will be submitted to the crystallization process. Subsequently, the reflected light and brightness of each test body and evaluation of surface roughness and then will be subjected to accelerated thermal aging in an autoclave, at a temperature of 134oC, under the pressure of 2 bars for 5 hours. After the aging test, measurement of reflected light and brightness of each test body and evaluation of the surface roughness of the samples will be evaluated again. In the end, qualitative analysis of the samples by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) will be performed. After obtaining the results of the present study, all data will be tabulated and analyzed for the distribution and variance of the data. Next, the most recommended statistical tests will be applied to each test, allowing the best analysis of the results.(AU)
