Abstract

Experimentation plays a crucial role in the development of knowledge in agriculture sciences. The application of the correct statistical methodology, which takes into account the data collection design is essential for research efficiency. Often, to facilitate the execution of the experiment and control unwanted heterogeneity in the system, complex experimental schemes are used. To accommodate the complex structure of the designs in the analysis, more advanced models than the analysis of variance or classical regression are required. Mixed linear models are very flexible in these cases and have great potential for application. In this project, the student will study linear and mixed linear models, along with the experimental designs that require them and apply appropriate modeling to a variety of agronomic examples. It is also expected to develop an awareness of the importance of experimental planning in any research and its incorporation into statistical analysis.(AU)
