Abstract

The birds of prey's population are declining and threatened with extinction in a higher number than other avian species in general, a fact that justifies studies with this taxonomic group. Therefore, this study aims to analyze fractures and luxations in birds of prey, through a comparative study of data from the Center for Medicine and Research in Wild Animals (CEMPAS) (Botucatu, Brazil) and Lindsay Wildlife Rehabilitation Hospital (California, USA), from 2012 to 2020, also allowing the analysis of data during the pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). The following information will be collected: identification of the raptor according to order, genus, and species; approximate age; clinical history, and final evolution. Regarding fractures and luxations, if present the radiographic examination, the affected skeleton will be identified (appendicular or axial). Following, the fractures will be classified as follows: closed or exposed, complete or incomplete, simple or comminuted, location (proximal, middle axis, distal). It will also be evaluated if one or more bones were affected in the same individual. The luxations will be identified as partial or total and depending on the location. All results will be evaluated using the statistical analysis software R. (AU)
