Abstract

This research internship abroad project aims to correspond and complement the theoretical and methodological efforts raised during the development of the master's research (FAPESP Process nº. 2021/05753-3). In view of this, we aim to analyze and understand, from theoretical, conceptual and methodical discussions, the process of financial digitization and how this financial phenomenon is spatialized in Brazil. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the performance of fintechs (companies that combine finance and technology), how the dynamics of these companies differ geographically and also about the methodological resources that enable empirical and concrete studies on financial digitization in the contemporary period, in addition to the investigation of the different regulatory and normative parameters that govern the performance of companies in the sector. In general terms, our methodology will consist of surveying and critically reviewing bibliographic materials on the subjects dealt with in this project, participating in scientific conferences and events on the topic of interest, monitoring disciplines at the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB) and participating in internal seminars of the Cosmopolis - Centre for Urban Research group, of which Professor David Bassens is a member.
