Abstract

Predicting the botnet's formation before DDoS attacks are launched against a target represents a significant contribution to academia and industry. In addition, it would significantly reduce the expense needed to mitigate an ongoing attack and repair a successful attack. The Post-Doc fellow involved in this project will work on correlating heterogeneous sources useful in predicting the formation of botnets and DDoS attacks. It will be necessary to correlate information from open information sources, such as social networks and service logs, with the predictions resulting from applying the Casual Graph Process (CGP) technique.
