Abstract

The purpose of this project is to finalize the writing of the book "Lord of Death: capitalism, war and slave trade (Portugal, Angola, Brazil, 1640-1771)". It is a work that emphasizes the relations between capitalism and slave trade in Angola. In this sense, it seeks to study the role of Lisbon's capitalists, particularly the farmers of slave duties contract, in financing the business and the wars in the interior of Africa. In addition, I discuss the various transformations in the organization of trade in people and in the forms of personal subjection in the Angolan hinterland. For that, I intend to do a 11 weeks internship at the University of Seville. During this period, I will carry out the bibliographic review of the text, taking advantage of the institution's libraries and I will visit the Archivo General de las Indias. I must also dedicate myself to the writing and final revision of the text, redacting the last chapter, the introduction, conclusions, and to the preparation of the appendices. (AU)
