Abstract The objective of this project will be to evaluate in vitro the effect of different concentrations (0.25%, 0.5% and 1%) of cyclotriphosphate (sodium trimetaphosphate, "TMP") with partial replacement of sodium by calcium (Ca2+) (CaNaTMP ) in bleaching formulations based on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) at 17.5% and 35% on the change in color, microhardness and roughness of dental enamel. The bleaching gels will be applied on enamel/dentin discs from bovine teeth, according to the groups: 1) 35% H2O2; 2) 35% H2O2 + 0.25% CaNaTMP; 3) 35% H2O2 + 0.5% CaNaTMP; 4) 35% H2O2 + 1% CaNaTMP; 5) 17.5% H2O2); 6) 17.5% H2O2 + 0.25% CaNaTMP; 7) 17.5% H2O2 + 0.5% CaNaTMP; and 8) 17.5% H2O2 + 1% CaNaTMP. The gels will be applied only once, during 3 sessions of 30 minutes/session, every 7 days, totaling 21 days. Then, the color change will be evaluated by quantified reflection spectrophotometry (E*ab , WID and E00), as well as the final surface microhardness (SHF) to calculate the percentage of surface microhardness loss (%SH) and surface roughness (Ra). Variables that present normal and homogeneous distribution will be submitted to analysis of variance (p<0.05). Otherwise, they will be submitted to the Kruskal Wallis test (p<0.05). The multiple comparison test will be Student-Newman-Keuls. | |
