Abstract

The productive restructuring started in the 1970s engendered profound changes in the materiality necessary for the processes of capitalist accumulation, in particular those aimed at the circulation of capital. The constant expansion of flows of different orders starts to demand specific infrastructures to sustain themselves. Such infrastructures, in turn, are only possible to be implemented from the coalition of different agents and economic sectors that can be differentiated in each socio-spatial formation. The proposal, therefore, revolves around the following problem: what is general and particular in Brazilian and Spanish cities in the consolidation of dry ports and what are the consequences for the production of urban space? In this direction, we put forward the hypothesis that logistics centers and dry ports, as built environments aimed at circulation, are consolidated from the junction of different sectors of capital, such as productive, development, commercial and logistics, in addition to the State. and the public administration as a whole, and the particularities of each city are in the differentiation of the agents' strategies. In order to analyze and understand these processes that present a general dimension of capitalist accumulation, we will seek to compare the dry ports and logistics centers in Ribeirão Preto/Brazil and Barcelona/Spain from the perspective of the agents involved, the multiscalarity of their actions and the consequences on production of urban space.
