Abstract

Colorectal cancer (CRC) affects thousands of people, being the third most prevalent in the world. Bevacizumab (BVZ) drug, already consolidated for other cancer treatments, exhibits limitations to oral administration because of it's proteic structure. In this way, the use of nanotechnology may help to search for new alternatives that are capable to improve BVZ biopharmaceutical characteristics of. Here, we have searched for polymeric nanostructures of chitosan, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose phthalate, and hyaluronic acid that could improve the limitations of BVZ intended oral administration. Therefore, the biological profile of such systems' will be analysing using cell lines - 2D models and the chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model, which fully mimics the tumoral microenvironment, allowing an understanding of these systems in the interference of pathological processes.The group coordinated by Dr. Fatima Baltazar has an extensive experience in cancer metabolism using models for in vitro and in vivo studies. So, the BEPE internship request here will make possible a deeper evaluation of biological process into the pharmaceutical techonology area, the familiarization of the master's student with cell lines and culture facilities, besides contributing to the program internacionalization.
