Abstract

CChronic kidney disease (CKD) is considered a serious public health problem worldwide. It is characterized by progressive and irreversible renal function loss, that leads to the increase of systemic blood pressure, loss of the glomerular filtration barrier selectivity, renal inflammation and fibrosis, regardless of its etiology. Since there is still no therapeutic arsenal to effectively contain CKD progression, the aim of the present study is to evaluate the renoprotective effects of the application of mesenchymal stem cells derived from adipose tissue (ASC) in the renal subcapsular space of rats submitted to the experimental model of CKD, induced by 5/6 renal ablation (Nx), at different time-points. The experimental groups of the present study were: Nx; untreated CKD animals, Nx Prev; Nx rats that received 2x10v CTmTA, concomitantly with the induction of CKD, Nx Trat; Nx rats that received 2x10v ASC, 15 days after CKD induction, when the nephropathy was already established, and Sham; animals with no reduction of renal mass, which were used as controls. All animals will be followed up to 15 or 30 days after CKD induction, when; clinical, biochemical and histological parameters will be analyzed.
