Abstract

This proposal is about the high quality crystals growth by the new growth method developed in our research group at EEL-USP, of dichalcogenides that crystallize in the CdI2 prototype strcuture. Preliminary results shown in this proposal reveal that it is possible to grow high quality crystals by this new method, represented by the intercalation of rare earths described by the family represented by the chemical formula: TRxZrTe2, where TR = Rare Earths. Band structure calculations, as well as some results reported in the literature, show that this type of prototype presents a non-trivial topology and, in this sense, the superconductivity originating from this prototype can be a clear example of non-artificial topological superconductors. In addition to these relevant aspects for Condensed Matter Physics, the proposal presented below intends to complement the training of the aforementioned candidate, in this effervescent and intriguing area of the new Condensed Matter Physics.
