Abstract

The research aims to analyze if the Brazilian public opinion about external politics is affected by domestic issues. More specifically, the article seeks to note whether or not the position of an individual on the left or the right of the political spectrum and their electoral choice is related to their preferences for cooperation with the North Global or regional integration. The hypothesis that voters who choose candidates of the right and claim to be on the right in the political spectrum are favorable to cooperation with North Global will be tested. Similarly, the possibility that voters who choose candidates of the left and claim to be on the left of the political spectrum are inclined to cooperate with countries that compose the South Global will be analyzed. These tests and studies will be based on the surveys, that represent the adult Brazilian population, made in 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 by the project "Brasil, Américas e o Mundo".(AU)
