Abstract

The investigation into the genesis and spatio-temporal evolution of levels (stairs) of low coastal terraces, with marine, transitional or fluvial deposits, constitutes the proposal of the research project - BEPE. This research seeks to improve the interpretations carried out so far in low coastal terraces, located in the Piranhas-Açu river basin, western portion of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, through techniques and methodologies, learned during the internship period. at the University of Coimbra. Among the different stages proposed for execution during the internship, the main ones correspond to: practice and interpretation of sedimentological data, from the use of GPR; theoretical and empirical activities in the sample preparation laboratory for OSL/ESR dating; understanding of the uplift rates that occur in staircases of marine terraces, based on calculations; carrying out different field activities, using a drone with advanced technology and RTK GPS; discussions of data achieved so far in the thesis. It is believed that the results from the BEPE will bring new technical and methodological contributions, which will help in the interpretative analysis of the coastal landscape, making it possible to contribute to scientific progress.
