Abstract

Research into the genesis and spatio-temporal evolution of the low marine terraces, fluvial, and fluviomatinhos, are configured as the proposal of the current research. One of the guiding possibilities of these investigations is the paleogeographic and paleoclimatic reconstitutions. In this context, the research seeks to analyze the occurrence of surface covers coastal landscape, in the areas of lower course, by means of spatialization and geochronology in superficial coverings of marine, fluvial and fluviomarinho terraces, correlating it with eustatic movements provoked by climatic pulsations. In order to apply such analysis, was chosen the Apodi-Mossoró River basin, located in the western portion of the State of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The use of absolute dating by optically stimulated luminescence, will consist of the main technique for the recognition and characterization of the deposition period of the covers, due to its high degree of chronological precision and adequacy to the type of material collected. In addition, to aid in the evolutionary interpretation of the coastal landscape, it will perform morphometric and physicochemical analyzes of the recoating material in the lower course of the Apodi-Mossoró River. The systemic method will provide support for such research.
