Effect of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass on the profile of circulating lipid inflammatory mediators in women with obesity-associated type 2 diabetes

Abstract

Oxylipins, derived from É-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ARA), have a high pro-inflammatory potential; while those of É-3 fatty acids, (EPA and DHA), have low pro-inflammatory potential and high pro-inflammatory potential. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is used in obese patients, due to the metabolic effects and rapid resolution of type 2 diabetes. DGYR is associated with an improvement in the leukocyte pro-oxidant status and a decrease in the levels of pro-inflammatory molecules, thus attenuating the previous inflammatory response. Due to the high prevalence and difficult treatment, controlling obesity is important. With the support of FAPESP, in thematic study: 2011-09612-3, for more than 10 years, the LIM-35 of the ICHC of FMUSP has been studied molecular changes after DGYR. The present research proposes to study inflammatory lipid mediators. For this, we will evaluate lipids and oxylipins acting on inflammation (mass spectrometry) and biochemical markers of lipid homeostasis (routine biochemical techniques) in plasma samples obtained from 28 women with obesity associated DM2, collected before and 3 months after RYGB. In addition, correlations of systemic biochemical markers of lipid homeostasis will be tested, with eventual changes in the plasma levels of oxylipins and their precursor lipids, by Pearson's correlation tests (normal distribution) or Spearman's correlation tests (absence of normality), with a level of significance. of 5% (p < 0.05).
