Abstract

Brazil is known worldwide as the largest producer of passion fruit. The climatic characteristics and territorial expansion give the native species of the genus Passiflora high economic, nutritional and medicinal value. However, the productivity of the genus is greatly threatened due to the emergence of diseases caused by bacteria. The use of agricultural pesticides on passion fruit seedlings collaborates to control the disease, however, it contributes to the growth and resistance of the bacterial population. To solve this problem, biosurfactants of the rhamnolipids type that are produced by bacteria of the genus Pseudomonas will be applied. Thus, the research will study the antimicrobial action of these rhamnolipids against the passion fruit phytopathogen. The methodology that will be applied is based on experiments with the addition of biosurfactant solutions. After data collection, using appropriate software, the results will be analyzed by statistical methodology. It is expected that the antifungal effect of rhamnolipids will be identified in order to recognize and influence the use of biological alternatives to control the disease.(AU)
