Construct validity of the Brazilian version of the kinesiophobia tampa scale in migraine individuals

Abstract

Migraine is a highly disabling primary headache, whose characteristics are well understood, and with a high prevalence of musculoskeletal dysfunctions, such as neck pain. The presence of these dysfunctions can trigger a higher tendency to fear and catastrophic thoughts about pain, with hypervigilance behavior and a higher risk of disease certification. Kinesiophobia is the irrational and devastating fear of movement and is present in 53% of migraine individuals. The Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK) was developed to measure the level of kinesiophobia of individuals. However, the construct validity of this instrument for migraine individuals was not performed. Therefore, the aim of this study is to assess the construct validity of the Brazilian version of the TSK questionnaire for migraine individuals. We will evaluate 100 individuals, aged between 18 and 55 years old, diagnosed with migraine, who will answer the following questionnaires: Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia, Headache Impact Test, Pain Catastrophizing Scale, and Fear Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire. For statistical analysis, Pearson's or Spearman correlation coefficient will be used to compare TSK scores with the HIT-6, PCS, and FABQ. Our hypothesis is to find positive, low to moderate correlations between these questionnaires.(AU)
