Abstract

This research project aims to develop an ethnography of the relationships attracted by the law firm that performs judicial and collective pro bono defense of the Capão das Antas Camp - occupation of struggle for agrarian reform located in the city of São Carlos, in the state of São Paulo - which is the target of a repossession process since 2011, regarding specifically to this case. Entering the debate of resistance struggles that arise in the midst of compulsory displacements, my problem of research concerns the documents that are produced around the issue of land that involves legal activist action and the Capão das Antas, in an uninterrupted flow of which INCRA, the Judiciary, the municipality (claimant of the lawsuit), the Public Ministry, the OAB and the private sector of São Carlos are part of. My main hypothesis is that the occupants of Capão are also performing law, part of a multiple practice that moves away from the universal and unitary vision of the legal world. Therefore, the protagonism of the residents does not derive from the position of defendant in the case but from the daily transformation, intentional or not, and strategic of their daily lives in categories and legal arguments. From my observatory at the office specialized in socio-environmental conflicts, I will be able to follow and unravel more closely the tangles that form the process, the execution of the eviction and also the legal-notary means to avoid it.
