Abstract

The conversion of methanol to olefins is often carried out in zeolites of Chabazite structure and the main obstacle of this technology is the obtaining of the zeolitic catalyst, as it involves the use of an aqueous reaction mixture containing an organic structure directing agent, in addition to the longtime of synthesis and high temperatures. As a strategy to overcome the limitations arising from the hydrothermal syntheses of zeolites, we propose the synthesis by the "dry mixture conversion" method, which consists of putting a dry mixture of precursors in contact with water vapors or volatile amines for a certain period of time. In addition to minimizing the use of solvents, the strategy has the advantages of reducing crystallization time with higher yields and less contamination with unwanted phases. In addition, the method will be combined with the use of seeds, in order to significantly decrease the induction time, as the seeds readily provide the nuclei for crystal growth and increase the "crystallization rate".
