Abstract The determination of the Beam Shape Coefficients (BSCs) of partial wave expansions of velocity potentials for acoustic scattering is a crucial step for building acoustic force-based volumetric displays. Such BSCs are, therefore, necessary for reliably predicting acoustic forces exerted by the corresponding pressure field. Therefore, a numerical simulation algorithm will be developed with the intent of achieving high performance benchmarks and reduce errors on calculations, leveraging the design advantages of the Julia programming language, which will be the main tool used during implementation. Knowing that this means using many special functions such as the gamma, beta, exponential and Bessel functions along with Legendre Polynomials and extensive sums, tests with specific beams and benchmarks will be made and their results, compared to bibliographical values, will be a metric of success for the project. The success of this project will pave the way for a new line of research within our research group (Applied Electromagnetics Group, AEG). The results are expected to be presented at local and/or international conferences and congresses. | |
