Abstract

Biomass is one of the main energy sources used in Brazil; however waste is generated in the form of ash. Some studies are under devolopment to find an application for this residue, such as the partial replacement of cement by ash in cement-based composites, like concrete, mortar and wood-cement. Therefore, the aim of this project is to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties and to determinate the inhibition index of cement-wood composites produced with the addition of ash and two different types of cement. Fabrication and characterizations will be carried out according to Brazilian ABNT NBR 7215, European EN 317 and US ASTM E1876 standards for four treatments. The composites will be manufactured with waste wood from Eucalyptus grandis and Portland cement type II and CP V ARI. The ash will be added to the mixture in a percentage of 25% in relation to the cement mass. The statistical analysis of the data to verify the normality and significant differences between the treatments.
