Abstract

The current research project aims to construct mathematical and computational models in polarized social and interaction networks, using graph theory, complex network theory, and appropriate polarization measures. The main objective is to identify the relationships between network polarization and other phenomena that affect society, such as crises, violent conflicts, and the proliferation of inauthentic profiles. Specific objectives include the identification of fake accounts and their beneficiaries, the study of the relationship between network polarization and the proliferation of these fake profiles, the identification of structural characteristics of the most polarized groups (echo chambers), and the risks of their radicalization; and the construction of predictive models of conflict by monitoring the polarization of these groups.
