Abstract

Transsexuality can be defined by the existence and social belonging of a gender that differs from the one assigned at birth. There are several forms of transition traversed by transsexual people, which can be social (reforming documents, for example) and/or medical (hormonal treatments and surgeries, for example). When it comes to male transsexuals, there is a certain invisibility of this population, both because of the recent political action of transsexual men and also because of the existence of a structural machismo that excluded the voice of female people, lacking analysis, scientific production, public policies and guidelines on transmasculinity. From this perspective, the present research project is presented, which has the general objective of analyzing the perception of trans men about the medical/social transition process. This is a qualitative research, developed through a self-administered questionnaire in electronic format containing socio-demographic and specific questions for the research objective and semi-structured interviews that will be developed with transsexual men from the state of São Paulo, who are pre, post or during medical/social transition or who chose not to perform any of the transitions. Data will be analyzed using descriptive statistics and content analysis. It is expected to generate clues for a process of analysis of the perception of transsexual men about the gender/sexual transition process, being able to problematize the professional practice of nurses, other health professionals and teachers, aiming at a closer approximation of this theme to training and professional performance, in addition to contributing to the theoretical void on the subject.
