Abstract

The Nitrogen (N) is the most required nutrient in the corn crop, being youravailability one of the main limiting factors to achieve high productivity. For the crop toreach higher levels of productivity, the use of N-based fertilizers is essential. However, fertilization based on N, ends up being responsible for the most of the costs within theproduction process, since it's necessary to use large amounts to compensate the deficitcaused by low soil fertility and plant needs, being nocive to the environment. Theoptimization in N-use efficiency (NUE), makes it possible that the plants can use the Nmore efficiently, allowing to have higher productivity with sustainability, applying asmaller amount of N. In front of the exposed, the goal will be to verify the effect ofAzospirillum brasilense in N-use efficiency in corn. The experiment to evaluate the effectof the Azospirillum on N-use efficiency, will be conducted in the 2022/2023 harvest, inthe experimental design of randomized blocks with 5 repetitions in a subdivided plotscheme. Three commercial corn hybrids with two cover crops with and without nitrogenapplication and with and without inoculation with Azospirillum brasilense will beevaluated. In the plots, the characteristics of green mass, plant and ear heights, N contentand grain yield will be evaluated, estimating the efficiency in the use of N for eachvariable. The data will be submitted to analysis of variance and averages compared atlevel of 5% of significance by the Ducan test, allowing us to infer whether the inoculationinterferes with the EUN.
