Abstract

Missionary Kaleidoscope analyzes the alliances, conflicts, and interests in the network of actors constituted by the actions of missionary agencies and evangelical churches among the indigenous peoples of the Vale do Javari Indigenous Land, in the municipality of Atalaia do Norte, Amazonas. Since 1960, evangelical missionary agencies of North American origin with headquarters in Brazil have sought to take the "word of God" and "reach all peoples". The missionaries have used different approach strategies such as: translation of the Bible into the indigenous language; assistance projects; attempts to contact isolated peoples, among others. From the theoretical approach of Actor Network (TAR), proposed by Bruno Latour and Michel Callon, and with methodological help from strategies coined in ethnography and netnography, information gathering and actor mapping, it is intended to understand the relationships established between the actors in the years 2017 - 2020.
