Abstract

Pandemics caused by viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, which present high and quick spreading, highlight the emergency for the development of efficient treatments against this and other diseases. Peptides and bioconjugates have been showing promissory results as antivirals, inhibiting different steps of the virus life cycle. Peptides are advantageous compared to small molecules due to their high selectivity, fast action, and biodegradability and can be modified by synthetic methods in the laboratory. The objective of this project is to evaluate the antiviral potential of bioconjugates against SARS-CoV-2 using a subgenomic replicon and evaluate the cytotoxicity of these compounds in human cell strains such as lung, kidney, liver, and human erythrocytes.
