Abstract

Currently, there are several types of materials available on the market for the treatment of wounds, from the most superficial and clean to the deepest and most infected. While extracellular matrix (ECM)-based biomaterials have an established place in human medicine as an instrument for tissue regeneration and chronic wound healing, contributing a provisional matrix and molecules to signal the healing process, in veterinary medicine it is still a method in rise. The objective of this work is to evaluate tissue repair with the application of Endoform" Dermal Membrane in wounds of Wistar rats. For this, 30 Wistar rats will be distributed in three large evaluation groups accordingt o the time period: G3d (three days of evaluation), G15d (15 days of evaluation) and G60d (60 days of evaluation). Each group will have 10 animals, each with five control animals and five representing the experimental group. An induced critical defect will be made on the back of the animals, with the aid of a previously sterilized punch, injuring the epithelial, connective and subcutaneous tissue, exposing the back muscle. After the determined time for each group, the animals will be euthanized and a sample will be collected from the wound region and for histopathological evaluation, with descriptive analysis of the slides under an optical microscope, as well as photomicrography. Data will be analyzed using wound contraction index and a Two Way ANOVA test will be performed to identify the difference in wound areas between groups.
