Abstract

Soil quality (SQ) refers to the capacity of the individual to exercise its functions, which are fundamental for ourlife on Earth. In this context, they are based on the strategies of use and what to be considered a great foodchallenge for humanity, as important components of the global change of humanity, such as safety andpreservation of environmental changes, control of better combat and preservation of the biodiversity. However, due to the complexity of individual solutions, among the factors of formation of individual treatment withinterventions as anthropic, there are no universal methods of assessment of SQ. Thus, there is an increasingnumber around the world developing methods to quantify/tool SQ on an increasing local scale. In this thematicproject, the main objective is to develop a technological route to generate the first of Brazil's soils (nationalscale), as well as apply this knowledge to benefit agricultural production and preservation, as well as to subsidizepublic policies in the Brazilian environment. The proposal for this postdoctoral fellowship is composed of threesequential steps: i) data collection of SQ indicators and ii) SQ evaluation. For this purpose, legacy data will beused, as well as field and researchers' databases strategically distributed throughout the territory; and iii)validation of the national SQ map. The data generated in steps 1 and 2 were used for external validation of thesoil quality map of Brazil generated in the thematic project. It is expected that the results generated can helpreduce the uncertainties of spatial information, improve the generation of unprecedented information and as muchas subsidize the taking at the local level for a map of public policy references at regional and national.
