EVALUATION OF THE PHYSICOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF READY-TO-USE CALCIUM SILICATE-BASED SEALER

Abstract

When cited in materials science, one of the limitations of endodontics is the development of biomaterials that provide regeneration and/or repair of pulp/periapical tissues. Therefore, new materials have been presented, aiming to improve their performance. So, tests are performed, aiming to compare the properties between different sealers, in order to choose the best one for a given clinical situation. Thus, the objective of this study is to evaluate the physical and chemical properties of a ready-to-use calcium silicate-based sealer named Sealer Plus BC (MK Life, Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil) and compare it with the properties of Bio-C Sealer (Angelus, Londrina, PR, Brazil) and Endosequence BC Sealer Hiflow (Brasseler, Savannah, USA). In other words, the properties of radiopacity, flow, pH, calcium ion release, solubility, volumetric solubility and setting time will be evaluated. To perform the radiopacity, flow, solubility and production of the specimens for the setting times, the specifications nº57 of ANSI/ADA (2000) and ISO 6876 (2012) will be used as base. The initial and final setting times will be calculated based on ASTM C266/2008. The pH and calcium ion release will be measured during 3, 24, 72 and 168 hours; and the volumetric solubility will be evaluated in micro-computed tomography(Micro-CT). Therefore, the results obtained will be applied in statistical tests with a 5% significance level.
