Abstract

This undergraduate research project aims to continue the research made possible by a PIBIC/CNPq scholarship (New forms of work: flows, platforms, uses and practices of work, 2021-2022, IAU.USP) about the relationships between urban territories and forms of work mediated by digital platforms in the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. Its starting point is the observation of a set of transformations that have been impacting practices and dimensions of work, uses of infrastructure and urban public spaces - transmuted into condition and material basis of work - as well as ways of obtaining income by engaging as bikers, paid for their activities performed in the flow of displacement and delivery of products. These relations are in constant tension, both from the point of view of the companies and of the new forms of spatial insertion of work, necessarily intermingled and imbricated with the urban flows and resting points that are formed from places defined by the platform companies. The empirical scope of this research proposal concerns the living conditions and paid activities of workers who inhabit the peripheral regions of the RMSP. The proposed methodological procedures are based on bibliographic and documental research (primary and secondary sources) and on fieldwork interviews in order to establish relations between flows and landing points, the urban areas with higher density of deliveries and the living and living conditions in the peripheries of the city. The relationships to be established between territories and work practices on the one hand, and urban insertion and places of residence on the other, may point to some transformations in the structuring relationships between work practices and places of work and the processes of production and reproduction of urban space.
