Abstract

The main goals of this project are to present a formula to compute the Euler obstruction for determinantal varieties, as well as to investigate conditions that guarantee Whitney equisingularity for this class of varieties. We intend to use properties and information from the relation between determinantal varieties and toric geometry, such as the concept Newton polyhedra. (AU)
