Abstract

Introduction: Speech therapy is a science that works with different perspectives of human communication such as hearing, voice, speech, oral and written language and all head and neck structures (Ribeiro et al. 2019). Orofacial motricity is a field in speech therapy that involves prevention, assessment, diagnosis, development, habilitation, improvement and rehabilitation in the structural and functional aspects of the orofacial and cervical regions. There are many possibilities for the application of Elastic Bandage, but it is still an area of little exploration by health professionals who treat muscle . In speech therapy, the elastic bandage is still used empirically since there is little research related to this topic. The use of elastic bandage aims to: analgesia, tonus adequacy and improvement of muscle function. Although there are few studies relating elastic bandage with orofacial motricity therapy, we can say that elastic bandage has been used as a therapeutic resource in TMD, sialorrhea, bruxism and issues related to facial aesthetics. Objective: To analyze the applicability of elastic bandage in speech therapy and levels of evidence in the area of orofacial motricity. Method: This is an exploratory bibliographic research. Therefore, the steps determined for the development of an integrative literature review will be followed. A guiding question was elaborated according to the strategy: What is the effect of the use of elastic bandage in speech therapy, mainly in the area of Orofacial Motricity? Scientific productions written in Portuguese and English will be included, without restrictions on the time of publication. Works with preliminary results and/or incomplete content will be excluded. All data will be placed in an Excel table for further analysis and discussion of the results.
