Abstract

The objective of the study is to identify, adapt, apply and evaluate a method of participatory process in urban design, with the precepts of design thinking (DT) considering its tools and interfaces established with social participation practices. The urban project, under development, for HIDS - International Hub for Sustainable Development still requires a more robust participatory process, since it must encompass the set of agents and potential actors that are directly or indirectly related to the implementation of the Hub. To achieve the objective of this project, a qualitative and exploratory approach will be used, inserted in the scope of the abductive method, since it points to the proposition of a participatory method based on the conceptual precepts of the DT. Methods that work with design science can contribute to the methodological development of this research, considering its essentially application character and the evaluation perspective of the developed protocols. Literature Review activities will be carried out; Documentary Research; Survey of primary and secondary data with the universities involved, public managers, social movements, company managers and specialists. In addition, the methodological and analytical tools of Policy Analysis and Content Analysis will be used, seeking to build an overview of the elements grouped into identified classes or headings. It is expected that this work results in a methodological proposal that can be applied in other participatory processes that are based on the transformation of territories, either from the formulation of urban projects, or from processes of planning the territorial space.
