Abstract

This project aims to examine the presence of modern themes in Gilda de Mello e Souza's aesthetic meditation. The essays of the Brazilian philosopher would be animated by a notion of aesthetic modernity, initiated in the 19th century and consummated in the 20th century. Modernity has given man a new productive impulse, both in terms of technique and content. Gilda de Mello e Souza was able to capture this new impulse in her essayistic prose, discussing the new paths of art, the artists of modern life and the aesthetic issues raised by her time. In his work, there would be an effort to articulate the idea - and the figurative - of what was considered modern, carrying out the reading exercises of modernity.
