Abstract

The Bauru Aquifer System (BAS) comprises represents one of the main sources of groundwater supply in the homonymous municipality, and is constituted by the geological formations of the Bauru Group. In recent decades, several contaminants have been detected in private tubular wells that exploit capture water from BAS, mainly distributed in the urban area of Bauru the city, causing environmental damages. One of the issuesquestions raised concerns the distribution and fate behavior of subsurface contaminants in groundwater and the lithostratigraphic framework, requiring a better understanding of the local geology. This scientific initiation project will focus on the detailed analysis of the subsurface lithostratigraphy of the Bauru Group, in a portion of the urban area of Bauru city this municipality, to assess for a better understanding of the spatial and depth distribution of this geological unit. For this purpose, the execution of the following activities are planned is foreseen: i) registration and treatment of previous survey and interpretation of geological data and geophysics profiles of drilling al profiling of pre-existing wells; ii) execution of borehole drillings and description of cores; iii) construction elaboration of geological cross sections; iv) three-dimensional implicit geological modeling, using from the Leapfrog Works® softwaremodel. Thus, it is expected that the findings The results obtained in this study will serve as a basis for a better understanding of the Bauru Group geometry (and consequently the SAB), of the geological formations that make up the Bauru Aquifer System, also serving as a basis for the elaboration of numerical modeling s of groundwater flow and reactive transport of contaminants, foreseen in and other activities that make up the Thematic Project "Integrated Water Solutions for Resilient Cities (SACRE), which aims to find solutions for the frequent water crises that affect the city" (FAPESP Process 2020/15434-0).
