Abstract Cardiovascular diseases of ischemic origin are one of the major factors of mortality world. Interruption of blood flow leads to cell death and tissue loss and triggers a repair process to replace muscle with fibrous tissue. In this process, the extracellular matrix (ECM) under goes changes in its structure and composition and recent results suggest that it may be a target for cell therapies. Our group demonstrated that mesenchymal cell therapy in the mouse and pig model of infarction is able to beneficially modify characteristics of the matrix even after one month of its reorganization through possible paracrine, transient and local effects. with the aim of to identify new therapeutic targets our group was to study and characterize microRNAs that were inside the exosomes of mesenchymal cells and we identified miR-196a-5pas a micro that recapitulated in isolation in part the effects identified in vivo.In the present project we will purchase two miR196a-5p delivery strategies in vitro and to evaluate the therapeutic effects in the process of cardiac fibrosis.
