Abstract

In view of the great concern with controlling the proliferation of vectors that reproduce in water, the adoption of larvicides in water reservoirs for various purposes has become increasingly frequent. Among the active ingredients used and authorized by the WHO for use in drinking water is Pyriproxyfen. Although some experts argue that there is no risk if the amount of active ingredients is within the regulated limit, data on the occurrence of pesticide active ingredients in Brazilian aquatic environments are still scarce. Among the ecotoxicological tests with fish, the model based on Danio rerio - zebrafish has become popular for the evaluation of toxicity, mainly because it is an organism with anatomy, physiology and development similar to higher vertebrates and because it is representative and recognized as a model in aquatic environments. . Therefore, this project aims to use histopathological markers to evaluate the effects of the active ingredient Pyriproxyfen (PPF). For this, this project will carry out analyzes aimed at identifying qualitative and quantitative histopathological changes in the liver, gills and gonads. These analyzes will allow the production of relevant data for the growth of knowledge of environmental toxicology and histology.
