Abstract

With the advent of smartphones, the use of applications to perform routine personal and academic tasks has become an unprecedented reality. In the academic area, its use can facilitate the recording of measurements from field and laboratory experiments, organize task planning and perform basic statistical analyses. In addition, the applications enhance the use of programming languages, without requiring intermediate or advanced computer knowledge on the part of the user. In this sense, R is a freely distributed programming language that allows, in addition to statistical analyses, simple mathematical operations, manipulation of vectors and matrices, among other various procedures. It is known that the modernization of hardware and the creation of software have made it possible to adjust increasingly complex statistical models, however, the use of statistical methods for measuring extreme events through applications is still scarce. These events are characterized by extreme values and have a low relative frequency, being generally associated with rare phenomena, with frequently catastrophic results. For example, excess or lack of rain for a long period of time, maximum temperatures and products with maximum prices. Thus, the present work has the general objective of creating an application based on the R programming language, through the Shiny package, to calculate probabilities and extreme levels related to the area of agricultural sciences, in addition to promoting the use of programming languages to propose innovative solutions in this area.
