Abstract Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen often related mechanical ventilation-associated pneumonia, usually caused byaspiration of saliva containing such bacteria. Natural products are potent antimicrobial therapy and in view of the appearance of microorganismsmultiresistant to conventional medicines, the investment in research in this area is promising. The aim of the study is to evaluate the activity antimicrobial and antibiofilm effect of hydroalcoholic extracts of green propolis from Baccharis dracunculifolia and cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) isolated and combined against clinical multidrug-resistant strains of Acinetobacter baumannii. For this purpose, plant extracts will be produced in our laboratory and evaluated for soluble solids content. For antimicrobial evaluation, the microdilution test of the broth will be carried out in accordance with the Clinical Norms and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI), the Checkerboard analysis, to evaluate combined effect of extracts and the antibiofilm activity will be evaluated by assay MTT. Data will be analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey's test, or by tests of Kruskal-Wallis and Dunn, considering a significance level of 5%. | |
