Abstract

This project is part of a doctorate in education, development at the University of São Paulo, under the guidance of Professor José Sérgio Fonseca de Carvalho, and at Université Paris 8, under the guidance of Professor Leandro de Lajonquière. This research is developed from the International Academic Agreement for Co-tutelage of Doctoral Thesis between the University of São Paulo and the Université Paris 8 (France). In opposition to contemporary formulations that instrumentalize education, this research aims to understand the possibilities of self-formation as a dwelling of "worlds that are foreign to us". It aims to reflect on the constitutive paradoxes of education as the formation of someone, in dialogue with the articulation between narrative theory and self-constitution, expressed in the work of Paul Ricoeur. The educational implications of this relationship will be considered through the concept of narrative identity and its relationship with the paradoxes of identity. This path will be able to show the possibilities of understanding education, as self-formation, based on the elements that Ricoeur offers us, initially, for the understanding of the narrative experience.
