Abstract

Obesity is one of the major challenges of public health at present, as well as other clinical conditions generally associated with it, such as diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia. In this scenario, brown and beige adipose tissue are possible therapeutic targets for new ways of treatment and prevention of the mentioned diseases. These tissues present considerable heterogeneity, providing morphological and functional variability. So, a detailed characterization of the transcriptional signature of these tissues can contribute to a better understanding of their functioning and characteristics. The single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) is a genomic approach of precision in the molecular description, setting up an alternative to the mapping of the transcriptional signature of these tissues. Thereby, it is objectified to do a review and systematic analysis of all studies previously published about single-cell RNA sequencing of beige and brown adipocytes in mice and human beings. This review will be realized with sequencing available in public data repositories, transferred to the platform Google Colaboratory and analyzed with Scanpy, a library in Python programming language, to compare the transcriptional pattern and clustering of brown and white adipose tissue.
