Abstract It is known that the origin of embryonic cells and gonads comes from embryonic and fetal development that in the feline species occurs during gestational development. These germ cells will give rise to male and female gametes in this species. Knowledge of the formation of gametes contributes to the improvement of the reproduction of domestic cats, and can be the basis for research with other felines, helps in understanding the numerous diseases involving these cells, as well as a better understanding of the embryology of this species. Based on this information, the present study aims to analyze cell layers present in the testes and ovaries of domestic cats in the final third of the gestational period. For the accomplishment of this project we will use six fetuses of cats in the final third of the gestational period of which 3 will be males and 3 females, the testes and ovaries will be dissected and processed to later carry out the morphometric and stereological parameters of this tissue in order to quantify the layers cells, which contain gamete precursor cells. With this, we hope that in the final third of the gestational period it will be possible to differentiate the proportion of the layer containing the germ cells of the interstitial region of the testis and ovary, thus knowing which proportion of this organ refers to the progenitor cells of male and female gametes in this species. | |
