Abstract

This project of research internship abroad aims to deepen the knowledge and understanding of the processes of urbanization and planning of urban space, especially on the theme to be held at the School of Geography and Planning, through the apprehension of new methodologies for the study of mapping techniques and analysis of the growth of urbanized areas in cities of South America, Africa and Asia, i.e., "global south". Thus, the internship seeks to approach the analysis of the urbanization of municipalities in the Maranhão Amazon, known as fast and of precarious urban infrastructure, through the acquisition of new methodologies, also considering the particularities of urbanization in Brazil, in the Amazon and in Maranhão. The development of the work in the School of Geography and Planning under the supervision of Brian Webb will be essential to the research project, contributing directly to the studies about the urban growth of the municipalities of the Maranhão Amazon, bringing new methodological and analytical procedures for direct contribution to the collection of research on the Maranhão Amazonia, including the construction of an article with the results obtained in the internship.
