Abstract

Among the main injuries found during carcass immunity, pleurisy stands out, which can be caused by several infectious agents, and lead to partial or total condemnations. The objective of this research is to detect PCV-2 and PCV-3, possible pathogens involved in pleurisy lesions in swine slaughter. To this end, a slaughterhouse located in the state of São Paulo, with a constant slaughter flow, will be selected, where approximately 125 animals belonging to different commercial pork farms will be selected. Among the evaluated animals, the lungs will be classified according to the degree of pulmonary consolidation for the conclusion of the Pneumonia Index of the batches. Pleurisy lesions will be categorized into 5 groups according to their severity (G1= control; G2=score 1; G3=score 2; G4=score 3 and G5=score 4), where 25 lung fragments will be collected for each one of the groups, in association with fragments of parietal pleura from carcasses with pleurisy. Subsequently, quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) will be performed to identify PCV-2 and PCV-3 CAP genes. The normality of the evaluations will be verified by the Shapiro-Wilkins test. If there is normality, analysis of variance (ANOVA) will be applied, the simple t test will be used for comparison between groups. If there is no normality, non-parametric tests (Wilcoxon) will be used.
